Batch Management
Process Analysis and Modeling Based on ISA-88
Structure production. Build consistent models.
Connect equipment, procedures, processes, and recipes through a common industrial modeling framework.

Course overview
Purpose. Practice. Value.
Advances in information systems and telecommunications have enabled the dynamic and efficient use of information, supporting powerful approaches to systematization and interoperability in production processes and organizational decision-making. Applied to industrial production, these developments extend beyond information processing toward automation that integrates manufacturing and management: production systems integration, or enterprise integration.
Comprehensive production automation must consider the process itself, the organizational structure, resources, and business management. An integrated system therefore requires models of organizational structure and behavior that make business process knowledge explicit.

Learning approach
The course introduces ISA-88 concepts and models to explore the flexibility of its principles and its varied applications across industrial automation project phases. During the course sessions, participants progressively apply the proposed models to a unit within a company production process to deepen their understanding of the subject matter.
Practical application
Application examples, practical exercises, and discussion connect the physical, procedural control, and process models with production needs. The course also addresses recipe data structures, BatchML, SCADA component specification, software architectures, and integration with operations management and logistics.
